It was very important to me to find someone who could understand me as a woman who was going through a very difficult time. I found that person in Doreen.

Sue and her husband Skip had just retired and were looking forward to enjoying many years together. Tragically, her husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma and passed away within 50 days. “When you have been married to someone for so long, you truly become one person. When I lost Skip, it was as if I was torn apart. I went through so many intense feelings of loss, sadness, fear, and the prospect of the unknown.”

Nothing can prepare a person for a tragic loss like what Sue experienced. After more than a year, Sue knew she needed help trying to protect herself and her estate. She had heard about Seamon Law Offices from a trusted friend who had also worked with Doreen. Her friend advised her to schedule a consultation.

“I wanted to protect what my husband had worked so hard to earn for the sake of our kids. It was very important to me to find someone who could understand me as a woman who was going through a very difficult time. Doreen was able to see my situation from a woman’s perspective. I didn’t trust anyone, and I felt all of this pressure that I didn’t know how to alleviate.”

Sue had many questions she needed to be answered. “I wanted to be sure that I really understood what was going on because I didn’t have Skip anymore to lean on. Sometimes I asked the same questions over and over, but she was there to walk me through it again and again. I am so very thankful for her.”

After completing her estate plan which included a revocable trust, Sue understood the importance of having an estate plan earlier in life and she encouraged her children to work with Doreen to develop their estate plan as well. She was especially concerned since her children still had minor children of their own to protect.

“I have a huge weight off my shoulders and my kids. It was my desire to do what my husband would have wanted and it’s done.”
