Stephen Ferguson

A West Virginia estate planning attorney, Stephen Ferguson helps clients and their families navigate the complexities of estate planning with clarity and confidence. A lifelong West Virginian, Stephen brings a deep-rooted understanding of the people, values, and traditions that define the state, enabling him to connect with clients on both a personal and practical level. His practice is grounded in trust, accessibility, and results-driven counsel.

Prior to focusing on estate planning, Stephen spent three years litigating a diverse range of cases, including product liability defense, wrongful death, personal injury, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation. During this time, he developed practical experience in a wide range of complex litigation matters and a keen understanding of how legal disputes can affect families and their assets.

He is a graduate of the WVU College of Law, where he served as a student clinician in the General Litigation Clinic, providing legal aid to indigent clients across the state. He also served as a summer law clerk in West Virginia’s 19th Judicial District.

Before attending law school, Stephen represented WVU in Washington, D.C., at the National Model United Nations Conference, interned with the victim assistance program at the Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and earned a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in English.

Outside of his practice, Stephen is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time with his family, supporting the Mountaineers, and experiencing all that wild and wonderful West Virginia has to offer. He, his wife, and their son live locally and are actively involved in the North Central West Virginia community, reflecting his commitment to serving the people of the region.
