Medicare Changes In The New Year

 We’d like to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year!Here’s a quick update of what’s been going on at Seamon Law Offices:We are now able to service all of West Virginia and the Entire state of Pennsylvania!We also have new TV and Radio shows coming your way in 2012.There have also been several changes to Medicare and we want to keep you as up to date as possible so here’s what’s in the news for 2012:Medicare will pay for the first 60 days of hospital confinement except for the deductible, $1,156, which will be in effect for 2012. If you carry a Medicare Supplement Policy, this $1,156 will be automatically paid for you.Medicare will pay everything from the 61st hospital day to the 9th day except for a flat $289 co-pay per day: and similarly, from the 91st day through the 150th day, but for $578 per day co-pay. After 150 days Medicare pays nothing.For stays in a skilled nursing facility following a minimum of a three day hospital stay and entrance into the facility within 30 days after discharge from the hospital, Medicare will cover the first 20 days at 100% of all costs. From the 21st though the 100th day it will pay for all but $144.50 per day. After 100 days, Medicare will no longer pay anything.The Part B deductible is $140 in 2012. Medicare is generally 80% of eligible expenses after the $140 Part B deductible.
